About Me
A New Vision of Adventure
Born in South Africa and privileged to have two wonderful parents who loved the bush, ocean, Drakensberg, Wild Coast, travelling South Africa and Mocambique. My Dad loved taking the ‘Off The Beaten Track’ roads – often taking us way out of our final destination and hours beyond our ETA.
Each and every holiday was another destination and another adventure.
The Kruger National Park became the most visited wildlife destination and my love for the bushveld, and the African wildlife and continued to fill my soul. The West Coast of the Cape, Cape Town and the Wilderness area in the Garden Route gave me the love of the ocean and beautiful surroundings which our lovely country has to offer.
More adventures included the Karoo, Northern Cape, Drakensberg, Natal Midlands, and KZN.
In the years 1989 to 1991 more opportunities presented themselves and I worked with MNet and Kingsley Holgate on the Cape to Cairo Adventure. More destinations further afield! Namibia, Botswana, Mocambique, Malawi, Zambia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Kenya, Masai Mara, Egypt, Sao Tome and Bom Bom Island were added to my experiences.
The Expo provided outdoor and adventure companies and destinations to exhibit together at this “first of its kind” Expo in South Africa. Exhibitors and Visitors could now share their own passion for the Outdoors, Adventure and Travel. The Expo has enjoyed continued success over the past 26 years.
1992 – The Big Opportunity and Dream
In 1992, I dreamt of starting an exhibition which would bring all the destinations, activities, products, vehicles, caravans, and off-road trailers and more, under one ‘Roof’. In October 1992, the Outdoor Adventure and Travel Expo open at Kyalami Race Track and was a resounding success.
As there was no Google or cellphones – marketing was reliant on press and radio. So to have, at the height of the success, 45 000 visitors interacting with all outdoor and adventure face to face, was an emotional period of my life.
I was able to utilise creative ideas and television opportunities to explore so much more of my country and neighbouring countries, wonderful overland trips, and producing a number of television programmes, in line with Top Car TV and M-Net to promote tourism, the outdoors and the exhibition.
This truly was the pinnacle of what I wished to achieve.
4×4-ing and diving added to the adventures.
More countries were added: Portugal, Bali, Hong Kong, Thailand, India, Malaysia, Sipidan, Germany, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, France, Isreal, China, Mauritius, Uganda, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Serengeti and more.
The adventures are continuing with exploring of new destinations and sharing with whomever would like to follow my “adventures on the road”.
My Dream
To continue to seek out new and exciting destinations, sharing my experiences with other like-minded travellers, and to give all those joining my unique travelling experiences a trip filled with fond happy memories of the destinations visited and explored.
